First Team of dental volunteers operating in the clinic
The First Dental Clinic Mission in Kibera, Kenya, marked a historic milestone as the first volunteer dental initiative at the Kibera Health Center was made possible by the tireless efforts of 30 dedicated oral surgeons, general dentists, hygienists, and assistants from the U.S. Thanks to the water well we dug and the solar panels installed, the clinic was fully operational to provide care for hundreds of children—many of whom had never seen a dentist before. Over the course of the mission, the team treated over 570 children, addressing severe oral diseases, pain, and systemic health issues, including full-mouth rehabilitations for serious medical-dental conditions. This impactful mission, which required extensive coordination, effort, and funding, was supported by Healing the Children and welcomed dignitaries, government officials, NGOs, and other stakeholders to witness the transformative impact of collaborative healthcare efforts.
